TORIMIRO, Dixon Olutade (Ph.D.), was Nigeria’s Federal Government Scholar, Laureate of the Council for the Development of Social Science Research in Africa’s (CODESRIA’s) Child and Youth Studies Institute-2004, Recipient of the CODESRIA’s grant for Multinational Working Group (MWG) on Citizenship and Identity in Contemporary Africa-2005, member of the College of Research Associates, United Nations University’s Institute of Natural Resources in Africa (UNU/INRA), currently an Associate Professor and former Head, Department of Agricultural Extension and Rural Development, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.

Torimiro co-initiated the National Research and Development Network of Children and Youth in Agriculture Programme (CYIAP- Network) in Nigeria. His participation at the German Government’s sponsored 21st International Training Workshop for Rural Youth Leaders held in 2002, at the Bavarian Farmers’ Union Training Centre, in Herrsching, Germany under the patronship of the United Nations’ Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) led to the initiation of the African Centre for Rural Youth Empowerment (ACRYE) ) - his action plan for Nigeria. He is the Chairman, Board of trustees of the Centre.
He initiated and currently leading an international team of scholars working on modeling young animators on ICTs (the Young Animators Club) for farm productivity in Africa through the grant of the Association of African Universities (AAU) under the auspices of DFID, UK won by the Team.

He is also on the team of researchers popularizing intercropping sunflower with arable crops among the rural poor farmers in Africa with the grant of the Association of African Universities (AAU) under the auspices of DFID, U.K. won by the Team. He belongs to many local and international professional associations, among which are the Agricultural Extension Society of Nigeria (AESON), Nigerian Rural Sociological Association (NRSA), International Rural Network (IRN), Scotland and a member of the Research Board of Advisors of the American Biographical Institute, Raleigh, USA.

Torimiro is on the Editorial board of and reviewer to many local and international academic Journals. He has attended learned conferences locally and internationally. Torimiro has published numerous articles related to child and youth studies in extension and rural development in reputable local and international academic journals.
